What is ShoutPut?

ShoutPut is a free social network aggregation platform for shout-outs. Now what exactly is a shout-out? Well according to Wikipedia, "a shout-out is a greeting or acknowledgment of a person, group, or organization of significance".

ShoutPut allows you to creatively acknowledge any person, group, or thing and share it with everyone; we call this "giving your shout-out". You can personalize and customize your shout-out to include text, photos, videos, music, links, games, ads, and anything you can think of along the way.

Definitions: "ShoutPut" is:

• SHORT: ShoutPut is where you go to give a shout-out.
• LONG: ShoutPut is a social network aggregation platform ("SNAP") used for broadcasting, sending, or sharing digital contents found and created by users on the world wide web.

How do you create a shout-out on ShoutPut?

• 1.) First search up anything you can think of (it can be a person, place, group, company or thing).
  
  • A search result page is then created and aggregated with relevant contents that we call the "Canvas".
• 2.) Then simply click on the "Shout-Out" button located at the top-right of the page to begin your new shout-out.
  
  • Sign-In or Sign-Up and begin writing your message, adding background images, and more.
  • Your shout-out can include text, photos, videos, music, games, ads, and all of your favorite embedded objects and widgets.
  • Other features include previewing your shout-out, adding tags and descriptions, importing backgrounds, and CSS editing for advanced users.
• 3.) When your done just click the "Save & Publish" button and your shout-out goes live.
• 4.) Now share your shout-out by sending it to everyone you know via an email, text message, video message, web call or all the social networks you belong to.

How are people using ShoutPut?
Since ShoutPut combines contents from various media and social sites it saves time from having to browse the web. People are discovering that commenting between popular networks or watching videos are just a click away. While on ShoutPut, users can listen to music from a search and play music player, chat live with video, and share their experiences in a flash.

What different types of shout-outs are people creating?
ShoutPut opens the gates of creativity in ways not found with plain text services. ShoutPut users have found that their shout-outs are becoming more interactive, interesting, and useful. Through our easy to use ShoutPut Editor users are creating professional presentations, interactive greetings, and powerful messages that others can relate to. Others have used ShoutPut as a website, error, e-commerce, and donation page, to advertise, to play games, for web casting, and many more.

Where did the name ShoutPut come from?
It all start late one night in May, summer of 2009. Three guys by the name of Fortune, Alex, and Jean-Benoit were sitting at the dinner table pondering on an interesting name for a program Fortune was developing. After countless hours of contemplation, Alex said " how about ShoutPut." The three of us paused and looked at each other. Then after an unanimous vote between the three of us, the name "ShoutPut" was born, and the slogan, "Putting your shout-out", was tagged as the signature now that elevates this new creation.

How did ShoutPut come to be?
ShoutPut was created accidently. It was a spare of the moment innovation that spread out of a now pending project. In the process of developing an entirely different application, the lead developer Fortune decided that a small feature of that particular project should be lifted up into its own being. Because of the multi-faceted architecture, Fortune suggested that this particular feature should be a place where individuals could express themselves to others. Then ShoutPut came to be.

Who came up with that funny looking logo?
Since the beginning, the ShoutPut Team wanted to create a project that was going to be fun for everyone to use. We wanted the name to have a particular personality that would be friendly and funny. On June 6, 2009 Jean-Benoit created an illustration that captured the conceptual essence of ShoutPut. After the illustration was created, Dontay Barnes re-touched the design with a blend of colors.
